Eagle Farm Racecourse Redevelopment
Brisbane Racing Club is currently undergoing significant change with the delivery of its $1.5 billion Master Plan well underway.
Closed from September 2014, the initial $10 million redevelopment project involved the relocation of the on-course training and stabling facilities to the infield, the first of its kind in the world, setting a new standard for elite racecourses. This freed up land owned by the Brisbane Racing Club enabling a mixed-use and residential redevelopment, ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of Club. The infield comprises 400 stables and training facilities, member’s carpark, large format videoboard, maintenance facilities, vehicular and pedestrian tunnels, and a multi-purpose entry pavilion.
The course re-opened in June 2016 but was plagued by problems from the outset. The track was subsequently renovated at a cost of $1.5 million, with racing returning to the venue in December 2018. Following this, facilities at the racecourse including bars and outlets received $4 million in improvements. These included a new look Champagne Bar (Members’ Reserve) and reticulation system, new look Connections House (formerly the Gallery Bar) and a new-look Group 1 lounge.
